Meridian Ireland recognises and respects the privacy rights of every person for whom we hold personal information ("data"). We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (for Ireland, see http://gdprandyou.ie/).
Meridian Ireland is the "data controller" for the purposes of data protection, company registration number, 312 194 and registered business address, 49 Castlerosse View, Baldoyle, Dublin 13.
This policy statement summarises the type of data which we might collect and how we might use that data. Primarily, we obtain data to provide you with products and/or services you have purchased and to enable us to follow‐up post‐purchase to inform you of relevant updates or clearly related products/services which we may introduce. This statement informs you of how we ensure the information we obtain is maintained as reasonably accurate as practicable and how you might request access to, deletion or rectification of this data, or how you can withdraw consent or make a complaint.
We may be required or need to update our privacy policy at any time and we shall always aim to ensure such changes are included on our websites within 48 hours of change. Our privacy policy is in conjunction with and subject to our terms and conditions which are explained on the imfmedia and online.imfmedia websites.
A. Information we collect, how it is obtained and how we may use that information
We only collect personal information if we have your permission, or we have reasonable commercial reasons for doing this, such as making delivery of products or services you may have purchased possible or to provide information regarding our products in reply to your request. We only collect the minimum amount of information needed to perform these functions.
We do not directly process credit and debit cards; the relevant information is processed on our behalf by PCI‐compliant payment providers who perform payment services. Occasionally, at your request, we may take payment information from you over the telephone. In such instances, the payment information is entered into the relevant payment system and all copies are deleted or destroyed immediately. We do not directly store your debit or credit card information. Online payments made through our website are processed securely by a third‐party payment provider.
If you subscribe to our IMF‐Online product we record your IP address, registration details and your browsing history such as the pages you have visited within our sites. This information is used to ensure reasonable usage of our product and non‐violation of our terms of usage such as providing access to any 3‐rd party without our expressed consent in advance.
Meridian Ireland / IMF does not share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
B. Cookies
We do not use cookies on the IMF‐Online website. We do use session variables which are similar to cookies but which immediately vanish as soon as you close the browser upon exiting IMF‐Online. In any event, we do not store any private data on these session variables as they are simply to indicate if you are logged in or not at any point in time.
C. Legal basis for processing data
To enter into a contract with you for our services/products.
We need and use your personal information to enter and perform any contract between you and us including:
To provide you with a subscription (IMF‐Online) or product (IMF books) you have purchased.
To process your payment information for such services/products.
To provide customer support – how to use our products, notices of expiry and new editions and to remind you of the benefits of your subscription/purchase.
D. Use of personal data
We only use your personal data for the purpose it was collected. Should we ever wish to use it for another purpose we undertake to contact you first and request your consent. We mainly use such data as is collected to communicate with you, deliver the service/product you have ordered or to renew your subscription.
E. Data storage and period of retention
Meridian Ireland takes commercially reasonable physical, technical and administrative measures to protect personal information from theft or misuse and to keep it confidential.
We will retain your personal information as needed to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. We will retain and use your personal information no longer than is necessary to comply with our business and legal obligations. When data is no longer required it is securely and permanently removed from our systems.
F. Transfer of data to third parties
We use third‐party providers for website hosting, website maintenance, subscription fulfilment and for processing payment by credit or debit cards. We share only the relevant information with these parties to enable them to provide such services. We take commercially reasonable steps to ensure that your data is kept secure and confidential by any third party. We do not sell your personal data.
G. Withdrawal of consent
When you have provided consent, if you should wish to withdraw that consent, you can let us know by sending an email (details provided on our websites) or by emailing dataprotection@meridianireland.com and we will remove your data from our systems.
H. Your rights regarding data protection
You have various rights under data‐protection law including (without charge) to:
Request to see your personal information we may hold.
Request to have rectified your personal information that is inaccurate.
Withdraw your consent to process your information.
Restrict processing of, or have deleted, your personal information we hold subject to certain exceptions relating to services/products we may be contracted to continue to supply to you or to statutory regulatory authorities.
Lodge a complaint with the appropriate data‐protection authority if you have concerns about how we process your personal data. We undertake to respond to your request within one month of receiving it. If we feel we cannot deal with your request within one month we may extend this period by a further month, but we will contact you in the meantime to explain the reasons.
